Description
The technical bamboo charcoal-infused honeycomb fabric is a game-changer for outdoor gear. It has excellent moisture-wicking and temperature-regulation properties and is naturally breathable, odour-resistant, and tough. It might look and feel like a gym top, but it’s plenty tough enough for the rigours of hunting, hiking and exploring. The quarter-zip design is a good option if you’re after extra protection from the sun and scrub while having the option to offload extra heat when needed. The four-way stretch mesh fabric underarm sections provide extra breathability and flexibility and the natural anti-microbial properties of bamboo charcoal keep odour to a minimum. The Apex Quarter-Zip is available in neutral, earthy colours and Prym1® Woodlands and MP (Multi-Purpose) camouflage so you can adapt to any environment. While the Apex range has been designed for summer adventures, the quarter-zip is an excellent insulating baselayer in cold weather. Just be aware these tops come with a warning: Once you put them on, you might not want to take them off in a hurry. They’re that comfortable.
Note: The Bushbuck Apex range is designed as a next-to-skin base layer, so they are slim fitting. We recommend going one size up if you’re after a more regular or relaxed fit. Also available as a tee, long-sleeve crew and armour quarter-zip.

Bamboo Charcoal Fabric
Bamboo charcoal fabric is made by drying and burning bamboo plants in an oven at temperatures above 800°C. The charcoal is further processed into nanoparticles, which are embedded into polyester fibres. The result is a technical fabric that offers excellent moisture and temperature regulation, as well as the natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties of bamboo. The unique composition of the fabric means it’s breathable and quick-drying in the summer and provides insulation in the winter. Pretty impressive, right? We think so.
Cooling/Thermal Properties
The tiny bamboo charcoal nanoparticles are highly porous, which allows air and moisture to easily pass through the fabric. This means when the body heats up and starts to sweat, the moisture is absorbed by the fabric and transported away from the skin. As the moisture evaporates, heat is released, cooling the air between your skin and the fabric. The breathable micro-gaps in the nanoparticles also allow hot air to escape, keeping you fresh for longer. In cooler weather, the moisture wicking properties of bamboo charcoal fabric actually help to keep you warmer by preventing sweat from cooling against the skin.
